NEED SOME INFORMATION
« on: May 13, 2016, 03:35:15 PM »
Okay Guys!!! I have recently taken the transmission out of my 1987 Suzuki Samurai 5 speed 4x4 and have discovered my problem. The input shaft is completely chewed up along with another gear. My problem is, that I do not know what the other gear on there is. It is is a round gear about an 1/8 thick and it is gold it goes on my input shaft and it is chewed up. If someone could please tell me what this gear is it would be greatly appreciated, Thank You.

The gold colored "gear" is a synchronizer.
If you buy a transmission rebuild kit with synchronizers, it will come with the bearings, seals and synchronizers.
Not sure if you can buy synchronizers individually or not.

I don't recall if they are all the same or not. Look at the new ones in the kit and see if they all match. If they don't, then just pay attention when you remove the old ones, so you know which ones go where.

The joys of a second hand purchase.  :)

Transmissions are pretty easy to rebuild so you should be in good shape.
