questions about them are they worth the $$$?, I don't rockcrawl. thinking about purchasing when they come on sale but undecided if worth the $$$. Are they hard to install? do they make them for the XL-7 TC ? pros and cons  thx guys

With my 5 speed automatic I haven't had an issue without the lower gears, and have been to Moab three times.  Your 4 speed will have a little higher low gear than mine, so you will be pulling harder initially than I do.  If you are running hot on snow runs, they will help, but a good transmission cooler with its own fan would also help.  I am running one before also routing the line through the radiator.

When I had the White Rabbit the gears were worth it, especially on the rocks.  But that was a 1.6l pushing 33's with a 3-speed auto.  It was a bit limiting when trying to get some speed when in low range though, if you just do light trails and back roads they might be to low.

No personal experience, but, it's my understanding that they are available for the automatics, but not the manuals.

that's what I like too hear that you really don't need them, it  would keep 800 bucks in my pocket for different mods, maybe future but I'm thinking that i'm going to have to pass on buying TC gears at this point.  Guys that have them say they love them and one of the best mods they have done but they are 4 cylinders and run bigger tires, I keep forgetting that with 512 gears and the V6 I have the power to turn bigger tires

Hey, that sounds like another modification.  Then you will rethink the gears again.

With the newer Gen diff locks this may be something to consider.  .
It can be made to create a diff drop without custom brackets, or to fit exactly same as stock.  All steel, with stock cast third member.

I'm not that good of a fabricator ...... but will watch for one of those so maybe convince you to help fabricate something like that for me?

I have figured out that it does not take much more to make it so stock seals are used.  Also now using a POLY bushing on PS to help prolong seal life.  Mine was a "I wonder if I can do it" job.  I have modified it accommodate the seals and bushing.
