engine swap advise needed
« on: June 05, 2017, 07:26:16 PM »
I'm almost afraid to ask...  :-\ eco...tech..?

I have a 2007 (185000 km) cobalt that has been sitting around for a year now with front end issues and the engine just keeps looking better and better. I have spent many hours/days/weeks looking at forums to see if anyone has yet successfully mated the eco tech with the factory 5 speed and it seems to have a dead end every time. I'm not interested in the solstice transmission (or any rwd) and a divorced T-case, I'm aware of many other swaps that have been done before and how they already have adapter kits for them. I have a 2007 cobalt eco tech (manual trans, 150 hp/ftlbs) and a 94 sidekick (manual trans), it makes sense to me to pick and what I already have and make it work if its at all possible to have the engine and transmission bolt up with a adapter plate or some other way I don't know about.

Here's the little one i'm hoping to convert to eco, nothing crazy .. 2.5" suspension lift with OME and spacers, 31x10.5s

I think someone was researching this swap over at Pirate 4x4 a while back.  Try a search there.

That is an interesting swap.  I have done quite a bit of research on it and have been working that direction for a couple years in my spare time.
Where are you?
