Light problems
« on: March 12, 2004, 02:45:49 PM »
I recently obtained a 94 two door, auto transmission Tracker.
None of the dashboard lights work. The domelight works as do the headlights, tail lights, turn signals, horn, side markers and other electrical components. I found the under dash fuse box and all 14 fuses are good. I'd really like to get the speedometer light working.
With regard to the headlights, I discovered that the right side headlight isn't firmly mounted. It works and looks fine but the bottom edge swings in and out about a half inch. It's as if the top edge were connected to a hinge which may be the case. There's probably something missing that adjusts the beam angle but I need advice as to where to look and how to adjust the angle so it stays put. ???
     Thanks!

LOL, good idea. I didn't think all the dash lights could possibly burn out at the same time (none of the instrument lights work) but I suppose it is possible. How difficult are the bulbs to get at? :-/

Actually that was my first thought and the first thing I checked before the fuses but the answer is no, the dimmer is turned all the way up. :'(

did you try unplugging the dimmer switch and jumping the wires? If you have a test light check check it for power.

Well when you said "recently obtained" I thought
you may have never had dash lights since you got
the trucklet, I think there are 2 bulbs, and you have
to remove the the instrument cluster and find the
bulb holders, they twist 90* and out, to get the cluster
out, remove 4 screws 2 top, 2 under, then the 4 screws
that hold the cluster into the dash, the speedo cable
plugs in and will pull clear, replace bulbs 193s I think
but check first, and put cluster back, click speedo cable
(it's kind of a pain) and replace screws (not too tight or
they will strip the threads)

Good luck,
