AC condenser fan
« on: September 07, 2018, 01:23:46 AM »
Hi, my AC condenser fan keeps moving regardless the AC is on and off! Does the fan get malfunctioned??
Or moving air from the radiator fan makes a fan blade of the condenser fan turned??

Any help would be appreciated.

My condenser fan turns, due to my radiator cooling fan.  You can pop the grill in set off and in plug the fan to make sure that is the cause. You can also unplug the fan relay in the engine bay.

Could you help to confirm when the condenser fan operate? When the AC is turned on? Do you think that bad fan is part of the problem of the AC not producing cold air??

Folks might be better able to help you diagnose the issue if you gave them all the details...

Under normal circumstances, the condenser fan will only run (be powered) when the a/c compressor is running, however, if the a/c control system senses an engine over temp condition it will disable the compressor and run the condenser fan, even if the a/c system is turned off - if your condenser fan is running as soon as the ignition is switched on, the system is most likely sensing an over temp, even if the engine is off and cold.

Air condition systems require specialist tools & experience that many people do not have - if you lack these, take the car to an a/c specialist and have them diagnose the problem - the diagnoses involves analysis of system pressures which can be affected by local climatic conditions and is not something that can be done via internet forums.

I add the volt directly from the battery to the fan and the fan does not move. The fan is bad, will dismantle it to see if it is no more brush!!

Fount a long searching problem to the Sport's AC. That fan is dead! Remove it out to test with a battery, dead!

Bring the fan to an auto wreckage shop to compare the fan motor. Found the one from Pajero fits the place, but you need to modify the holes of the mounting screws. Dang the AC blows cold again!!!
