Pro Comp 2.5in. lift...any good?
« on: March 04, 2004, 09:49:28 AM »
well I scoree...big! i bought a lifted Sidekick with best top hard top, and a pro comp 2.5 inch lift.  however the lift looks pretty half assed.  i was thinking about putting it on my sidekick but the whole set up looks shoddy.  is the pro comp lift any good?  someone told me the RRO 2.5 lift is the old Pro comp setup..any truth to that?
either way i scored a nice hard top.

I have a procomp lift on my rig and i haven't had any problems with it beside it having a harsh ride. I recently took off the extra front shocks and it smoothed out some and also replaced the rear shocks with gabriel gas truck shocks. The Procomp shocks were overkill for a light rig. If it was installed properly you shouldn't have any problems, the lower control arm mounts have cams for caster/camber adjustment.

can you explain the cams for the lower control arm mount / how do they correct camber on the pro comp kit ( see my RRO / camber posting.

On the crossmember where the control arms bolt to,there is a cam on the front and back, turning them can kick the wheel in or out for camber and turning them also kicks the wheel back or forward for caster. I would have liked a little more caster adjustment but was mainly concerned with getting close to 0*+ camber.

I do not think the RRO kit is the same,i don't see any brackets listed with their kits. The Procomp kit has drop brackets and crossmembers with it. :-/

True, the RRO is very different theres a lot more metalwork with the Procomp kit. I know of a couple still in use in the UK, I don't think either still use the extra front shock.
