Rausch Creek Pics
« on: February 23, 2004, 10:20:46 PM »
Took a ride Sunday w/ a bunch from JeepHorizons.com at Rausch Creek Off Road Park in PA. The guy in the red TJ is a buddy of mine and he invited me along. Only Zuk  ;D in the crowd.  Great bunch (no jokes about a baby jeep or anything). We broke into 2 groups, the trailered in hard cases and the rest of us.  It had snowed about an inch and a half the night before on top of the already packed ice, had some off camber trails w/ really high pucker factor.   ::) We all met up late in the afternoon at what is called Rock Creek where the other guys were playing. These are pics from some of their members.

Imagestation requires a logon to see any pics from anyone.  I've got a sign on, but the name/password is at home (don't keep them in my wallet). So it's difficult to get to them.

I have been thinking of trying Raush creek some time this year. How wide of a range of trils do they have?  How do they compare to Paragons trails?

Are you going to Gon Zookin this year?

YEP.....Already registered for GON' ZUKIN this year  ;D

Check out the ride reports on the JeepHorizons board that pretty much sums it up.

http://jeephorizons.com/

As they said, the easy trails get hard w/ snow & ice (experienced that), and the hard trails can be easier.  I imagine it's the same |removethispart|@ PAP. Never been at PAP in the winter. Best thing I noticed was the mud didn't stink like at PAP! I had a good time, got stuck some  ::) (nothing a heavy right foot couldn't take care of ;)) The guy we yanked up w/ the human winch refused to put the hammer down it was doable, everyone else not locked did it. All things said, I want to go back and give it another go when things dry out.

Jeff Draper was also up there this winter, he might have some comments.

Whoops My bad I even entered your name on the site.  ;D

I checked out the website for Raush and seems very limited. I wouldn't mind checkin it out though. Guess I am just used to the size of PAP

Hey Ron, you shoulda been there one week earlier.  We were there for the Monthly ride!

The mud at Rausch creek is definitely easier to remove than the Paragon mud.....no coal slurry mixed in!  I just hit my truck with a regular hose and it all came off!!  I'm used to hours with a pressure washer to remove the Paragon slime :)

BTW, here are some of our Rausch Creek Pix and videos.  Because of the snow, we stuck to the easy trails.  Check out http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=95852&perpage=20&pagenumber=4 for the rest of the pix.

Hey Ron and Jeff,
I have been talking with Bruce from Raush Creek via e-mail for the last couple days.  He has invited us down in the spring and he will guide us.  If the place is pretty cool maybe an August trail ride with a larger group of zooks will be possible. Maybe even a better price ???

Want to get together in april or May and ride around RC for a day with me?  ;)

Ron, yeah, I think that was 10.  Down in the bottom of the valley.  We were the first (and only) group that tried it.  The day before a group looked at it and chickened out too :).  It was definitely slippery.  Towstraps were heavily used many times, but the Zuk never got stuck ;D!  I strapped out explorers and jeeps several times.

Don't know why the vid's aren't working.  They are from one of the guys who was with us.  Try later, maybe his site is having problems.  Worked fine last week  :-/ .

I'm up for a Zuk run in April or May.  I'm usually available most weekends, so let's do it!! We only need 3 trucks to enter RC, so we should be set.
