Hey Mike, ?

I know a while ago you removed the snap ring that holds in the front CV outer shaft in place and used a bolt and washer combo to hold it in place.

Are you still doing that?  Has it held up or has something gone wrong with it?

I'm putting new brakes and bearing in the front and this would be a good time to do that.

Thanks

Yea, I did. I actually went to a Toyota dealer and bought the studs, tapers and nuts that hold the lockout to the hub. I had a problem shearing the lockout off the hub. This seemed to cure my problem entirely. I also bought the bolt that goes in the end of the shaft on the toyotas. Its was a little too thick so I did a little sanding on it. The way I found this out was while I was driving it started pulling. I got out and found one of my lockouts was locked in. I thought I must have forgot to unlock it. But then 5 miles later I noticed it again. After a little sanding that stopped. I also noticed that it allowed the shaft to walk in and out just a little bit. To correct that I added an oil plug washer between the big washer and the lockout. I also replaced all the outer allen bolts with 10mm bolts from a fender so I could carry one less wrench. (I dislike allen bolts, they always round out at the worst time.)
