Are 2wd and 4wd Outters the same?
« on: February 11, 2004, 09:25:22 PM »
OK I do know the name, I'm thinking Hub (not Lockout). The outter Hub/Spindle ??? the steel peice that holds your wheel bearings, brakes, attaches to your strut etc...  Are they the same on a 2wd and 4wd tracker??? I had a parts guy say yes, and then another said no :-/

Thanks,
Zig

They both were right, yes it is the same and
no there is a plug in the back of the spindle
where the axle stub goes thru, BUT you could
pop that plug out and then use the spindle for
your truck.   ;D

It's not, I forgot about those  :P
but you could recycle the old ones
if you got a bent spindle  :)

My problem is that I did not get all of the axle peices out when I broke my outter stub shaft. A peice of the axle wedged between the lockout and the retaining washer and filed it and the screws down flat. I'm afraid that I will find more damage if/when I drill tou the screws and remove the bearings. So I was just going to pull the ones off of my 2wd parts tracker(spindel hubs brakes etc...) Con I get the axle bushings from an parts store if they are dammaged, or will I need to order them Hawk.

Im pretty sure they will fit. You will need to swap the bushing and seal though.
