2.0 V6
« on: February 07, 2004, 12:16:01 AM »
Does anyone have pictures of the 2.0 V6 in the 1995-98 sidekick/vitara?? I know Somer has the V6 in his rig. Want to see what type of motor mounts Suzuki used. Is the 2.0 basically a smaller version of the 2.5 and 2.7's?
Somer do you have any under hood pictures? ???

From somewhere  in the back of my head comes the recollection that the 2.0V6 is a Mazda engine. It seems plausible as Suzuki also used to fit the 2.0 Mazda diesel. I believe it is a different engine to the 2.5V6.

I don't have any pictures right now, but I can take some.
I can tell you though, that it looks a lot like your engine.  I'll take a picture of the whole engine and a few of the motor mounts.  Is there anything else that you want to see?     just went wheeling last night so everything might be a little muddy.. ;D

Thanks very much Somer!!
The motor are very much alike, block and heads look to be the same. Mounts on the engine appear to be the same or at least made the same way. Whats interesting is the motor mounts themselves and where they mount to. Would it be to much trouble to take another picture on the passenger side looking straight down at the mount? What i want to see is the mounting tab on the frame, they must have lowered it compared to the 1.6.
Right now my motor is more or less solid mounted with some thick rubber pads for isolation from thr frame.

When they put the 2.0 V6 in they widened the chassis 60mm.

Not sure which passenger side you ment (driver is on the opposite side of the U.S.), so I just took both sides.

This would be the passenger side in the U.S.

and the opposite side

Excellent,thanks very much again.
I can see where your frame rails are wider than mine and they used a bolt-on motor mount tab on the frame, like they do on the 99- and up models here.
One thing for sure, the 2.7 would be a drop in for you, except the wiring.

One more question, does Suzuki sell any engine performance parts there that would not be available here? Like underdrive pulleys, bigger throttle bodies, performance ecu's,etc?

Nope, I wish they did sell parts here..I guess just not enough demand, everyone here drives LandCruisers or Jimnys.

Its kind of funny,  I'm not really sure if we have a 2.7L model over here, but do I know that the 2.5L will be a direct swap because Suzuki did make a very few Sport models with the 2.5L engine in them...but now they are also very rare now.  Kind of confusing  ??? Anyways, anything over 2.0L would put me in a totaly different insurance and tax class, too much $$$ for me... maybe they won't notice if.. ;D
