Grand Vitara Recall & Shift Problembs
« on: January 30, 2004, 12:25:07 AM »
 ???
I took our Grand Vitara in for the recall on the throttle cable. After the service, the car shifts too early
(|removethispart|@ 4000 RPM)when at full throttle (Redline is 6500), and it doesn't downshift when it is supposed to either. Could this issue be related to the other issue? Could something or some adjustment have been disrupted with the swap of the cables?

I assume the GV has a mechanical kickdown cable from the throttle linkage to the transmission to control shift points. It may have been grossly misadjusted or left disconnected. Get somebody who knows what the heck he's doing to look at it.
