Front floor too hot, why?????

Last week I was looking for help on my Suzuki which becomes too hot inside. I tried all adjustements, nothing. Recently, I just lookd and touched some of the parts below the dasboard, on the floor and I found some metals there and pipes were too too hot and thats where the heat comes from. Could there be anything wrong and what can I do in order not to have hot parts/metals inside a car. For all the cars I have driven, I have not had any hot part inside the car. Infact my suzuki gets vey hot that the cassette fails to function. yet the temp. gauge is always below a quarter

Please help out

Where are you at and what elevation are we talking about? and what is the rig? year, carb, ect. pic's of the hot part's or area? drivers side or passenger ? more info please 8)

Well, I think I will ge the pics but more descriptions. I have a Suzuki Escudo, model 1991, long chasis, station wagon. Ia m in Uganda, whose temp is the best in the world, between 20-24 degrees centrigrade all year round. To be exact as to the hot parts, its between the driver and passenger seats and it follows the gear box position, hoter close to the engine. Some of the hot air escpaes thropugh the gear lever, even though it has a good rubber insulation .and then the front parts as to where one rests his/her feet. ie right hand foot of passenger and left foot of driver, just down there where vehicle cutions do not reach.  Close to expalnation??

I drove an 81 Corvette that did the same thing. There was nothing wrong with the vehicle, it was just not insulated good enough for the passenger sitting that close to the motor and transmission. The heat would radiate through the floorboards trany hump and fire wall. If I drove around in the summer without the AC blasting it was terribaly hot.
Do you have the factory carpet and padding still in the vehicle? If not that would help alot if this is your problem. I do not have any carpet in my Kick and I get alot of heat from the trany hump.

Sounds like one of the plastic heater tubes came off. There is one above the passengers feet that connects to the blower motor and can pop off if kicked accidently.
I would look at that first. Also your heater core is in that area also,make sure all the heater control cables are working and closing all the air doors tightly.
I had my dash completely out this last fall and its easy to get something out of place :P

If you temp gage is below a quarter all the time, it could be because of a bad water pump.  I had the same problem with my Discovery.  The temp gage would always be low, but my cat. would get very hot.  Maybe too much heat is building up in the cat and soaking in to the floot boards.  At least check to see of you have water on any leaks in the radiator.

Try this for a test:
disconnect the heater lines in the engine compartment
from the heater core and put a piece of metal tube
that is small enough to slip inside the hoses and clamp
them together so no leaks. now drive and see if you get
hot feet still.   no hot feet check the heater core and tubes,
hot feet you got to do more insulation, check if you got heat
shielding on the exhaust system still too, radiated exhaust heat
can melt stuff under the hood.

Hi Guys

Thanks so much fopr the pieces of advice. Actually yesterday I apssed by a mechanic, I fisrt let him look fr the problem and he also zeroed on the heater probvlem. Infact the tubes for the heating system ar the ones that are very hot. I told him I do not at any one time need  a heater, and I suggested we close off the tubes as one of you suggested. His concern though is if this does not interfere with the rest of the air conditioning system.

So my question is if I disconnect the heater lines in the engine compartment from the heater core and put a piece of metal tube,  as suggested, will this not interfere with the rest of the system??

Somer, can you advise me on how to check if the water pump is working well??

Thats a good question,  I would also like to know.  The only reason why I knew something was wrong was because my water pump was leaking and I kept getting the overheat warning light from the cat.,  even thought the the temp. gauge was really low.  Even when I took it to a Rover shop it took them a few tries to find the problem.

Does anyone else on this board know how to test the water pump?

That is correct, dis-connecting the heater in the engine
compartment will only keep the hot off your feet   :)
