Well I think my exhaust has unclogged itself and after gutting the cat and the exhaust is flowing free now, I think the cat was the problem all along, it has more power than it ever did before. I can pull hills at 55 now no problem. Amen to that. Todays my birthday so we will see how i make out with money, if its pretty good the calmini cat back will be on order!

Good deal, sorry if we initially led you down a path full of problems with the muffler clogging up yesterday.

Hey no problem what so ever. It was my fault anyway. The ehxuast bolts that connect the muffler to the cat on that pipe were so rusted I coudln't get them off, so i just driilled it out with it connected. Hopefully I can get the exhaust system so I will get a little more power out of it.

If you have access to a welder why don't you just buy some mandrel U-bends and make your own?  Granted bolt on's nice but after it's bolted on and used it will cease to become bolt-off from rusting.

Just a thought anyway, we built mine out of some 90 Degree mandrel bends cut to fit butt-welded to regular tube.  Took a little more time but it does the trick even if it's a little funny looking.

it would be cheaper and mabey make more HP out of it.   just remember to step the pipe so you will still have the low end tourqe(spell check).

I'm running a 2" with a straight through muffler off the Calmini header and I haven't noticed any decrease in low end torque. (even running the AT on 4.62 AT stock gears and 31's Low end's not bad) And it's noticeably better on the higher RPM ranges because the exhaust can actually flow enough to let the exhaust get out of the engine.

Now a 2.5" or something would probably kill the low end but it's not bad with a 2" exhaust by any means.

What kind of muffler are you running?

Magnaflow 2" straight-through that's a 9x5 oval outside.

For being a straight through it's really quiet, I was pretty surprised.  It's a little heavy but after hearing it, I have to guess that most of that's coming from the sound absorbing media inside it.

I think it was about 60 bucks but I got it from Allied Exhaust which is a wholesaler.  If you know anyone with a business license/Tax ID to setup an account they'll sell to you.  I believe they're a national company.

Summit racing sells them too, just go to the magnaflow website and get the part number and look it up there.  Just don't go for the stainless one unless you want to pay 100 bucks+.

Thats the same muffler I have. I like it too it flows well and gives it a little tone. I was afriad it would sound like a ricer but it really doesnt it sounds nice and not like a lawn mower. I have the Hawk Header and a Katco cat ( i have to pass emissions) but it did seem to lose any torque at all with the 2" pipeing all the way. Glad ya go it unclogged and Happy Birthday.
