Tracker in February
« on: December 23, 2003, 03:17:22 PM »
Hey I just wanted to point out that we tracker owners need to let it be known that these little four-wheel dive wehicles kick ass. In the February, 2004 isssue of Four Wheeler magazine on page 84-85 if you look in the middle of the page you will see a readers rig "Mighty Geo". Unless I am blind or it happened before I gave a damn about Track/Kicks, I do believe this to be the first Tracker in a major off-road magazine. That is not counting the Calmini add! The ride belongs to Dennis Langston of Rochester,New York. I am not sure whether or not he is a member of this forum, but here is his specs.
94' Tracker
3" Calmin lift
5:83 Cogs
31" Swampers
Lockers: F-Detroit R-Lock-Right
Warn 3500lb. whinch
And some Skidplates.
All members give him a round of applause. :o :o ;D ;D 8) 8) :-* :-*
95' Kick with a 3 in. body lift and plenty more to come!

Ya man, thats been my beef with all the 4x4 mags out there.

Every time you pick one of those mags up all you see page after page is Jeep, Jeep, Jeep,Jeep,Jeep,Jeep,Jeep

I think I've seen ONE Sammy, but it was heavily modded (I believe it was called "the Goat" for peeps who are familiar with the rig)

It's about freaken time they put a Trackick in one of those mags.  Maybe people will see how kick ass these little trucks are.

There was one in a magazine a few years ago. He was riding with a group that took an editor on a ride. There was only one pic with him in the background and on sentence mentioning him. It was something like: There was even a little Suzuki Sidekick that taged along that did not have any trouble all day.

What was funny, they were showing many built rides climbing  difficult obstacles, and even some winching, and breakage. They showed LOTS of pics and details about those vehicles and their drivers, but only one sentence about the Kick that had no trouble with the ride.

OH, OUR TIME IS COMEING ;)

I saw one in one of their other aritcals.  I think it was in Moab it showed the tiny stock tracker trying to clmb this rock and i was kinda pissed that it made trackers look like street SUV's.  We should all get togather and invite Four Wheeler to come see what REAL trackers can do.  lata stu

We've had editors go on runs with us several times. Here's the problem. Four Wheeler's target audience is full size. The only real chance of magazine exposure is Four Wheel Drive and Sport Utility magazine. That mag has a better demographic for us because it is us that are reading that magazine. As for Moab, All of the editors from the major magazines are there during that week. People that are having rides and know them invite them to go along on day trips and that's how articles are made. Most are very busy during this week because all of the vendors and manufacturers like to have these people at their functions. So it can be difficult to get their time.

A few phone calls will be made. So, if you're going to be out there for the Moab EJS, come along with us 'cause you never know who will be hitching a ride.

We could also flood 4wd & Sport utility with pictures of our rigs too. If everybody set  at least  one picture, They would get overwelmed and couldn't ignore us.

we should boycott the magazines..damnit, my tracker is better than a jeep.  Two trucks went through the deep pits of hell the last time we were out.  it took a jeep with a 350 chev, 38s, welded differential at full blast to go through the puddle that mine has gone through.  I mean my other one with 35 inch swampers and enough lift to run it with a stock 1.6

I get "Four Wheeler" magizine.  They just sent me a copy of their "Top Truck Challenge" video.

They had a sami with a 1.6L 16V with Toyota axils and Boggers compeat.

The Sami was doing awesome.  It took first in the obsticle course and stopping distance.  And on the big last "Tank Trail"  they had one of the fastest times going until the guy ran the right bogger into the side of a cliff and broke a burfield joint.

But what about his co-pilot/spotter? I think that guy had no clue about what his driver was tempting to do. He just seemed to take timely walks looking for a place to hook the strap for a winch pull.
Then not to add salt, he didn't really get the cable secured before the driver went into the hole. It looked like he didn't want to get wet at all.
I was really pissed and was even yelling at the spotter to run. My son now does this even though we've seen the video some 1000 times.

BTW, I just got a promotional video/DVD on that Top Truck Challenge. Info was about Peterson's 4WDOR mag, but the TTC is Four Wheelers baby. I don't get that mix?

If you really want to get exposure, get a built Suzuki to run with the big boys on the Peterson's 4WDOR Ultimate Adventure. Though get the truck up front of the pack otherwise, it won't be taped. (A week's worth of 12 hour day on trails, all in a 1.5 hr video. That sucks! To add, same rigs throughout video, even though there was 3 times on the trails.)

Yea, the co did suck, and the winch thing was just stupid!  You have to wonder if they don't watch eachother making the runs?

I was focusing on the Zuk.  The way it was flying up the trail was awesome.  If he could have kept his line and his rig together, he would have been gone.
