New pics on my website;D
« on: January 05, 2004, 12:53:48 PM »
I went wheelin over winter break and I finally got the pics post on my site so feel free to take a look. I got stuck twice. The first time i veered off the road and had powerd fly up over the hood. We just dug a little and pushed it out. The second tiem I was stuck on a hill kinda in the ditch, I had to winch out this time. I was excited I fianally got to use my winch :D There was atlest 2ft of powder up there as you can see from my buddie standin next ot the rig. But the Zuke took it like a champ, I made it quite aways up, plowin my own road no less. I was the first one to go thru, all fresh and virgin snow.
I might go out and play in the snow this weekend so hopefully I will get some good action shots ;D

Cool pic.  I wish we would get some real snow here.  4" last night and not even 2" today.

It probably sounds crazy to some that you were excited to use your winch.  Makes perfect sense to me ;D!

Take tons of pics if you go,  we love them.  (Sorry to speak for the dial up group  :()

I know you stated that the snow is powder, but even with a little abrasion to the cv boot with that packed snow, wouldn't the boot deteriorate? Maybe some type of ice particle melting the snow due to the heat of the metal?
Has anyone think of placing a 'shield' on the front of the arm to protect the cv shaft?
How much snow was there in the engine bay near the fan? Couldn't powder snow block the radiator just like mud?

the powder can block the rad but if you stop and idle it for a bit it will melt off and your good ta go! not like mud where it bakes it in there.  for the boots you could just spray them with wd-40 or pam that would keep them a little happier ;D

Thanks for the complements, I am gonna try and post some video clips but we are limited on how much space we have here at school so I will have to see.
I never really thought about all that packed snow up in there. I just went out and checked the boots everything looks fine. Thats a good ideas about the pam of wd40 I will have to try that this weekend.

I've contemplated about the cv boots and how they would get torn. Only thing I could come up with is the constant pressure something would have on the surface as it spins. Think of it like a lathe machine. With a little point, you can shave off an edge on something that is spinning rather quickly.
So with an icicle from the melted packed snow, it could in all reality, cut the surface of the boot. I really don't know, just a thought.

I'm thinking those little guards the Dakar racers and desert racers use would seem to help in a condition like that. However, it could also hold from the backside the debri when you go backwards.

That's awesome 8). We have only had a light powdering of the ground once this year >:( I would love to have a snow like that in Tennessee. But I'll have to live with the spastic weather we have every winter (72 Deg. high Sunday, 7 Deg. Low last night) :o
