Extreme flooding 1990 TBI Help Please
« on: November 12, 2019, 08:17:38 PM »
Hi guys, thanks for the add!!
Question for you guys.  I was troubleshooting an engine surge issue after the initial warm up high idle and the Samy flooded to the point that it shut the engine off very suddenly.  I was holding the rpms around 2-3k while it was surging when it happened. While trying to restart, fuel was coming out the exhaust and  standing on the butterfly within 10 seconds of turning it over. Not sure what happened. Possible fuel reg or injector failure maybe???. I would like some input before throwing money at it, if you dont mind sharing if you have witnessed this is my before. This my first go working on a Suzuki so any advice is appreciated. Thanks

And for the record, I have read all thought the faq with no luck

It sounds like the injector is either stuck open/leaking or is being held energized by the ECU - unplug it and crank the engine over and see if you continue to get fuel into the throttle body.

Thanks! I finally got someone to come hit the switch while I watched to see what was happening at the throttle body. when the switch is cycled, its is flooding gas out of the bottom of the injector immediatly as if it was coming straight from the fuel pump. I pulled the injector, and the seal is bad at the bottom. I didnt realize  that this wasnt a flow through injector, the fuel was basically just going around it. I found a Walker brand throttle body seal kit on ebay for 14$ Hopefully this will remedy my problem.
