« on: May 05, 2005, 01:23:06 PM »
I'm trying to find flares for a kick that look good & about 4"to 6" wide. thought about jeep pocket style. hutch had some in moab on his green kick that looked nice but not real wide. ithink they were bushwackers ??? any other ideas or pixs would be cool.I would like to drive my kick on the road again.      thanks stan

goto 'products' then 'body'

6" wide and i heard they will fit on a trackick with some moding.  i would love these but went with the 3" JCW ones for a lot less $$$, which worked great for me 8)

Don't spend too much, you'll get grumpy when a stump rips one off.

If lawn edging isn't the look you're going for take a look at www.jcwhitney.com. search for
"EASY-TO-TRIM RUBBER FENDER EXTENSIONS/FLARES"

Rear flares off a Jeep TJ (97+ Wrangler). There designed to bolt onto a flat surface and are 4" wide.

If you read the site he says they are bushwacker flat top flares....who knows though. I thought they were part of one of those ricer body kits too.

wrong.
those ARE bushwhacker flares.  because i had them on my previous tracker.  they were not made for very long though.  i bought them for my 1994 tracker in 1995.  not sure how much they were back then but do remember they were not cheap.  And i know they are VERY rare and hard to find.  And most definately not made any more, and have not been for a very long time.

I have found myself thinking about different flare options of late. A chat with a friendly state trooper at a convenience store proved to me that if he sees the Goblin out running around again without flares, he would pull me over and ticket me for it :-[ ::) :-/

I went to the salvage yard where I score most of my goodies and found a used set on a 70's Bronco. The fronts were 3" wide universal rubber type that were mounted to the flat surface of the fender, the rears are a different style, only 2-1/2" wide and mount to the fender lip(which means I can't use them up front since only half my front fender openings have lips still... LOL!).

I really like the fronts I scored that were actually mountable either flat or lip, but have never seen them anywhere else and of course there weren't another pair of them anywhere in the junkyard.

I picked up a brand new set of the JC Whitney 3" wide universal-fit rubber flares at the local flea market this morning for only $20, but they are again lip-mount. Are there any universal rubber flares out there that mount flat surface style with exposed screws?(not the cj-pocket type that hide the screws up under the flare, but rather ones with a tall rib on top of the flare that you can screw to the outside of the fender)?

If someone has any of these they'd part with or be willing to trade for lip-mount ones, PM me please! LOL!
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...
