NEED HELP ASAP!!! trail thought adaptor kit question
« on: January 25, 2020, 11:56:47 AM »
I'm currently in the middle of swapping the 1.6 8v tracker motor into my Sami but I can't figure out how the trail tough adaptor kit is supposed to go on and where the bolts go. It came with no instructions. Bolting to the samurai transmission

Try the Low Range Off Road instructions page - they have a similar kit - you should be able to figure it out after viewing that.

Thanks foredem, eventually got it figured out using that guide. Got the engine to turn over but I'm not getting any spark, I'm thinking its the ignition coil so is there any way to test it? I'm using the samurai ignition coil. Also having some trouble with the starter, which is a brand new tracker starter, sometimes it won't engage and will click when you turn the key so does that mean I'm not getting enough voltage to it?

You can do basic resistance tests with an ohmmeter, or you can wire the coil into a 12V circuit (+12V to the coil positive, a length of wire to the coil negative, a spark plug between the coil HT connection and the coil mount bracket) - briefly connect the coil negative to the battery negative - every time you break the circuit, you should get a spark at the plug.

Regarding the clicking starter - make sure you have a heavy ground from the bell housing to the chassis and also the battery negative - make sure there is a good connection from the battery to the starter and make sure the battery is fully charged.  Connect a length of wire to the starter control terminal and go directly to the battery positive to test - this bypasses the safety circuits so make sure the vehicle is in neutral.
