Homemade tube bumpers
« on: January 01, 2004, 01:54:14 AM »
Anybody have any good ideas? My friend has a tube bender with a 5" radius 1 1/2" tubing die that he recently picked up.

I was thinking about making some bumpers out of DOM rollcage tubing and wondered if anybody had some pictures for inspiration they could share.

Prerunner style isn't necessarily out but I don't want the gigantic loop that sticks out 3 feet in front of my trucklet either.  That looks better on boats in my opinion.

Ive had the same idea for building some bumpers Im going to use a design based on the ones advertised on the calmini site, simple yet hopefully effective.

Actually I do like yours Zukipilot.

Haven't checked out your site yet Somer but I will.

I kinda like the ones these guys make for Isuzus though.

http://www.stinkyfab.com

Especially the back one.

Short of that I was thinking about shamelessly making one like these guys sell.

Granted the second one's not tube but that's ok they do look pretty stout.

Yeah the front on the Amigo is sorta smiley looking.  Not bad at all though considering.

I like the look of their rock sliders too, might have to make a set like that.

What I don't understand is how their Isuzu bumper can look pretty good but the one for the full size Chevy is so butt ugly.

It really doesn't compliment the body lines of the Chevy at all.

Yes that's my Kick ;) I had the bumber custom made by the same guy that made my sliders and roll cage. I have never welded much and when it comes to dragging Heeps up hills with my winch ::) I wanted it to be strong and did not trust my lack of fabricating skills at the time. I gave the guy a picture af a winch bumper and a pre runner that I liked out of a magazine, told him I wanted a combo of the two and that is what he came up with ;D I realy like it.
