1992 Sidekick JLX
« on: March 18, 2024, 02:18:17 PM »
I have been having some problems with the inner axle on the left \ Driver's side coming out.  The axle looks OK to me but that doesn't mean much.  It has the circlip on the end and when installing it goes almost all the way and then requires a little tap to install completely.  I added a 15" limit strap and will next look at full droop and stuff to see if the axle shaft pops out.

Any thoughts as to why this would happen?

Need a new inner as too warn out or something like that?

Could the inner axle be popping out slowly from a worn out but not failing C-Clip?

Is there a specific C-Clip or would the below work? Do I need the Optional O-Ring to go under the C-Clip?

You may still be over-extending the suspension on droop. Do you have drop brackets for your center section? Also, you may want to convert/make a flange mount stub shaft axle for that side so you can have the same CV axle for both sides. There are a few articles on the main part of this website that help beef up the IFS part of a Sidekick. Good luck! -Eric

I have limit straps but will take the spring out to check full droop and stuff to see if that shows anything.  I have the 3" Calmini drop brackets.  I want to do the CV Axle conversion but that is for the passenger side correct?  This is the driver side.  On a crazy side note it is not pulling out currently.  I went to snap a picture of it, as it dawned on me after years that would help everyone with my cryptic descriptions, and it is working normally.  I'm not mad at it but am confused.  Happy Thanksgiving week to all
