apparently if you run synthetic in brand new cars the pistons, valves, will never settle in.  supposedly brand new engines need time to establish a track sortof, like incredibly small grooves for all the parts to mesh with each other... synthetic has such little friction this will never happen and i hear you'll burn oil until you put some regular oil in and let the parts go together
lol sorry if this is confusing, i had it explained to me and it made sense at the time...

Trialspro summed it up. I normally wait 6-10,000 miles just to be safe. Remember it's never to late but could be to early. Give the engine time to break in fully.

According to Mobil 1, you do not have to wait to change to synthetic oil in a new car.

Quote
MTYH: You should break in your engine with conventional oil, then switch to Mobil 1.
REALITY: You can start using Mobil 1 with SuperSynâ„¢ in new vehicles at any time, even in brand-new vehicles. In fact, Mobil 1 with SuperSynâ„¢ is original equipment (it is installed at the factory) in:

Chevrolet Corvette
All Porsche vehicles
Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicles
Dodge Viper
Ford Mustang Cobra R
All Aston Martin cars

One of the myths that persists about Mobil 1 is that new engines require a break-in period with conventional oil. Current engine manufacturing technology does not require this break-in period. As indicated by the decisions of the engineers who design these high-performance cars, Mobil 1 with SuperSynâ„¢ can be used in an engine from the day you drive the car off the showroom floor.

In my opinion all engines need a period of break-in to seat the rings and to get the proper cam break-in. Although I've never been inside a Zuk Engine I have rebuilt several including BB & SB Fords and Chevys and a Turbo Volvo. I have always followed the break-in procedures for the new cam and have never had a problem. I'd say give it at least 5000 miles myself. All the engines that Mobil talks about are high performance engines that probably see dyno time before installation or in other words they're already broke-in.

Here's how I'd do it:
at start up-Dino Juice
change at 500 miles-Dino Juice
change at 2000 miles-Dino Juice
change at 5000 miles-Mobil 1

Tell that to my buddy with a bored and stroked 351w that had more cam2 in the oil than the fuel tank. I did a tear down with 800 miles on it to find the hash marks still on the cylinder walls. He was another victim that didn't listen. I did a rebuild on it using conventional and it's been fine since. The list of cars are or close to exotic that are broken in well before they are even shipped. One other thing, Mobil one is notthe only sythetic on the market. In my drag bug I run castrol 5W50 which was broken in first on conventional. Is it really worth taking the chance? Plus on a fresh rebuild you should be changing oil at close intervals which isn't worth using synthetic.

Hey I'm not saying that you're lying or anything, you're probably right.  I was just pointing out what I saw.

Also, I know that Mobil 1 is not the only synthetic on the market, but, it is the best, even better then Castrol.

Schaffers Blows them both away, just it's not
available all over, but my brother did the friction
test himself, beat Mobil 1.

I thinking of going to their oil for all my lube needs,
they make a kickarss grease too, better than Mobil 1
grease, which is what I use now for U-Joints.

Bonus is they send you oil test kits, for free, to
send in your oil for analysis, good to find where
potential problems might be starting.

Can't state which is the best but Castrol is the only one I found to make 5W50. This weight became very helpful in my aircooled vw for cold start ups and hot summer days.

you can get royal purple off of ebay by the bucket for a good price and mix it 50-50 with regular oil and I think it would do a real good job.

Oh yeah, I forgot about those other brands. :P

Well let me correct myself, Mobil 1 is the best synthetic oil in my market.  :)
