89 SIDEKICK 1.6 ,ENGINE HAD DIED, FUELPUMP RELAY RATTLES,CHECK ENG LIGHT ON CONTINIOUS ,FUEL STARTED TO RUN OUT OF AIRCLEANER WITH KEY ON, CAN'T SELF TEST COMPUTER.

look under your dashboard on the left side above the fuse box, you should see a switch(kinda like what you would see under a remote control car) flip the switch the other way and then test the computer, then post any codes you may pull from it. If you need instructions on pulling the codes let me know and i will post instructions

It sounds to me you have a dead short to ground in the injector or harness. If I remember right the injector is powered (+) all the time and the computer pulses the ground (-) for the injector to release fuel. Get a wiring diagram to be sure. I had the same thing happen after a squirrel tried building a nest and chewed a couple of wires.

87BlackSami is right about the operation of the injectors. Could be a short in the wiring loom, might be the ECU though
