How about canceling out the G.V.,keep the higher end XL-7 and put the 2.5's in the 2dr. Vitara. Then using the Xl-7 platform make a 4 door pick up truck add 2 cylinders to the 2.7 and have a affordable V-8 pick-up to compete with ford ,chevy, and toyota. Can't understand why they have 2 V-6's so close in displacement with different fuel management systems. OK,i was dreaming about the pick-up idea.           Stu.

I wouldn't count the pickup idea out. It has been kicked around enough to where I've had conversations with people in the know where the problem with a Suzuki pickup has been described as one of taxation. Appearently, there is a stiff tax on imported pickups. So, until you see Suzuki building a plant here, change in tax law, or reservation of some manufacturing space in a US GM facility, it won't happen.

They DO have a plant here...it's in Ingersoll Ontario! It's even modeled after Iwata in Japan. :(

Doesn't have to be in the United States...Canada is just as good.  Many cars driven by Canadians and Americans alike are EXCLUSIVELY made in Canada.

The point is, THERE IS A PLANT HERE, in North America.

Yeah, but its gonna make the uniwannbebody equiniox or some awful beancounter iteration of what an SUV should be.
No more trackers and no more vitaras from Ingersoll!  >:(

However, Iwata has plenty of capacity to build vitaras and xl 7 rigs for export to the US. ;D
The Zuke is on its way out.  Getting a vehicle that will behave and be supported by the dealer.

Only because GM called that shot with out much of Suzuki's opinion.

It's suppose to be a 50-50 partnership unless Suzuki has sold there half or something like that?

might be....or zuke could "rebadge" one of the beancounter dreams from that plant and call it their own.

Kinda like rebadging Daewoo cars and calling them zukes.

Or Ford going to Kia and hatching up a concoction called the Aspire which never inspired sales.

Or Chebby getting zuke to build the sprint?  Remember that leetle beast, with a turbocharged 3 banger?

Or Honda going to Iszuzu and slapping a "Passport" name on that suv and calling it their own.  Funny, CR used to give bad reliability ratings to the Izsuzu product , but better than average to the Honda (apparently not at all mindful of the fact that both rolled off the assembly line in W. Lafayette Indiana)

::)
