What would be the easiest way to check the spline count on a sidekick front diff?

What year/model Kick do you have?

 94 and older are 22 spline. 95 and up are 26 spline.

BTW the output shaft (at least the auto) is also 26
spline, and the 26 spline front half shafts, where the
hub bolts on, is an exact fit, to the driveshaft slipyoke.
The 22 spline however is smaller, as well as has fewer
splines, an upgrade is a good idea as long as you are
going to dig around in the front diff.

In a sidenote, I think I have found the parts to build
a Fullfloater rear axle from SideKick parts !!, the only
custom item would be the double splined axle shafts,
stronger that stockers of coarse. A little more digging
and I might be able to have larger and more spline
axles, side gears and hubs sourced out to build a bullet
proof (at least until Mike gets hold of it  )  rear Axle,

Ohh I forgot the best part, Rear disk brakes too  

The vechile is a 94 model,and i plan to install a lockright in the front using a sammy front carier which will be machined by a friend.Is it neceessary to upgrade to 27 spline.

I don't think so, but if you have 22 spline,
and you are going to a locker, you will probably
break it, so going to a 26 spline is good insurance
for all the work you are going to do.

Disassemble the right side (as you sit in the trucklet) and pop the
axle out of the front diff, carefull of the seal as it's a flat surface
mateing type, use a large flat screwdriver, at the edge to protect
the seal and pry out, it will pop out as there is only a spring clip
holding it in place, now you can count the splines.

I think that Spidertraxx claims they have some 27 spline axles available....

but I will stand corrected, so how much are
new Spidertrax 27 Spline axles ?  Sounds
expensive

There is an option of running the ARB for a Sidekick carrier, getting the 'option' from ARB that uses D30 27 spline sidegears in that package. Then you can get fancy schmancy D30 27 spline cromo axles that are a little bigger and a lot tougher.
