2wd transmission ????
« on: December 02, 2003, 04:02:56 AM »
I have a 97 2wd tracker and wanted to put it's transmission in my 98 X-90. I think I saw a picture that showed a mimic transfer case on a 2wd transmission :-/ Are they set up like that ???  Will I be able to use the 2wd transmission on my 4wd?? Any thing crazy involved (like switching out out-put shafts?) ??? :-/

The output shaft is about 2 inches longer on the 2wd. otherwise it looks like it would fit. I thought about cutting 2 inches off and see if the splines went deep enoughh to mesh. BTW some of the newer 2wd transmittions have a weird coarse spline.

Put the tranny of your sidekick in the x-90 and put the 2wd tranny in your sidekick with an sammy t-case mated to it.

And by the way fill it with the 8:1 SUPERCrawler gears from Rocky Road Outfitters.

hehehe!

With 5.83:1 r&p your will be the lowest sidekick/tracker on earth! ;D

Fredo,
I'm having enough trouble snapping axles with a 4:1 ;) If I went 8:1 I would have to run in 5th gear al the time  ::) Hey, I could do the 8:1 and 39's on the Kick. Now I just have to figure out how to get 10" more lift :o

Mike,
Thanks, that's not what I wanted to hear  :'( but it saved me alot of time 8) I guess it's time to go looking for one in the local junk yard.

Is there any difference in the 4x4 trans over the years ??? Or will any 89-98 work?
