Sway Bar Disconnects
« on: November 25, 2003, 12:41:03 AM »
Are there any sway bar disconnects available for 1999 and up Trackers?  Has anyone one made their own?

Thanks

Dunno if it's the same as the GV, but I have one of the few quik discos for the Kick/GV.  It's a cut & weld in unit.

After a year of driving it with it disconnected, I realize I don't really need it (don't aggressively road ride anymore).

I might be removing the swap barr all together, and if so, it will be up for sale.

Up for sale you say  :o  Might have to take you up on that if you do so.

I disconected mine and tided out of the way to go wheeling.  Didn't notice a difference when I was on the road.

So the next time I worked on the front end out it came.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of removing or disconnecting the front sway bar?

The sway bar limits front end flex to lower the vehicle's roll potential... The advantage of removing it is increased front flex for offroad, the disadvantage is a slightly higher roll potential, and front end dive when cornering; but if you don't drive like a moron, you won't even notice it.

It's a worthwhile mod. I was going to try to build a quick disconnect too, but just decided to remove my bar. Haven't noticed much difference on the street.

Hmmm.... I think ima disconnect mine and see if I notice any difference while driving..... (might be kinda different reaction for mine since I got the extra weight of the V6 to deal with)

The sawy bar removed from the GV is a lot more noticable that when removed from a Kicker.

I ran with and without the sway bar, I did notice a fair
difference on road, but I forgot to disconnect it when
I went to Tierra Del SOl last year, and went on everything
anyway.

I tell you what, you get to sliding off a hill and feel like
your almost going to roll, that's when you wish it was on.

Should try it without on a XL-7 that weighs  even more. Starts to get a little unnerving
