Smoked my clutch pulling out a jimmy
« on: November 07, 2003, 10:20:27 AM »
An man did it ever smoke.  The stock Jimmy got stuck three times, it was not too bad the first and second time but I had barely any clutch left for the third.  It was slipping pretty bad, I did a neutral drop in 4low, got the tires to spin and got him out.  It didn't have enough left to roll forward in the dirt.  My Sunrunner must have had one of those superhuman adreline rushes to give one last pull, kinda like a desperate man knowing its now or never.   It was cool.

Now you get the fun of putting in a new clutch  ::).  Make sure you get the flywheel resurfaced while you are at it..

Chunk smoked one once so bad once we were all standing there with fire extinguishers looking for the fire. Sad thing was it "was" a new clutch! :'( He ordered a 4.25 to 1 and has nt looked back. ;)

But the Jimny IS a Suzuki, slightly longer wheelbase than a Sammi, coil sprung live axles, 1300cc, 16V, 80bhp engine. A little short of ground clearance and articulation in stock form but they will be the new Sammi (at least outside of the US - blame CU for that). They are very easy to modify but are all a new and expensive currently.

In the US, we have a vehicle called a Jimmy, not a Jimney.  It's the GMC badged version of the Chevy Blazer, which is a mid-sized SUV.  Significantly larger than a Jimney.
