« on: November 04, 2003, 06:37:58 PM »
hey all just wondering if the solid axle sidekick has a body lift on it and will it be necessary to have it to fit 33's, couldnt tell if it had a body lift or not. just curious as im wondering if i should put a larger body lift than what i currently have(2")?

I dont think you will need a body lift.

The reason being that with a solid axle you can achieve 6" of lift with the suspension alone.  The geometry problems you have with the IFS kit get thrown out the window. (but get replaced with driveshaft geometry problems, which are fixed with the Slip yoke eliminator and CV shaft)

So theres no need to lift your body up unless you wana run real big dogs (like 40's or something. but unless you had some REAL good gearing, and a bigger engine, I couldnt see tires that big working on a trackick)

The car does have a 3" body lift on it. However, I think that 33" could be fit without a body lift if the user was willing to do body work [trimming] Right now I have stock fenders in the front and no work done in the rear. There is only an intsy-bitsy bit of rubbing in a full steering lock when completely flexed.

I chose 33" because of the rear axle and I was right too. I've snapped 4 axles since going to 33's and am looking for a rear axle solution right now. I'd like to run 35" because I feel that is a bare minimum now for 'hard core' ;) wheeling but until I upgrade the rear end, I'm stickin' 33's.

I saw an ad in a National Dragster mag where a company was selling custom alloy axles any lenght up to 37" with any flange bolt pattern and spline for $225.

Eric, do you want me to give the company name?

Later,
Bill
