« on: October 25, 2003, 03:42:23 AM »
Hello, as I introduceed myself a bit before, I am compleatly new to offroading. I have simple quastions,
1) I got auto, is thata realy hard to convert to manual or alot of work is needed?
2) all the weels(rims) go on Sidekick, soppose to have enlarged center section for habs, I want to put some nice rims but thya are all normal size, so two posabilities: 1) conversion for normal size or2) if you know place where nice looking rims are sold for Sidekick.

The wheels that will fit are 5 lug on 5.5
pattern, 4 1/4" center hole, Ford 1/2 Ton
axles had this pattern, there are some rims
available but not tons like some other cars.

You want offroad wheels or Street Cruisers??

Something like this, 50/50, more for cruzing, but if needed I can take some trails.

Ya, the newer Fords don't have the same pattern,
it's the early ones, like 70s that have the big center.
I was at the wrecking yard and started finding lots
of them on the old junked vans and P/Us, problem
is they want $15 painted and $20 Chrome  :P
New RockCrawlers are $40 so screw the old crap,
I got new ones ;)

Older Bronco wheels will fit thats where I got mine. They are American Racing Outlaw II aluminum. They have 3" backspacing. Ive had them offroad a couple of times now and they have held up really well.

ya NEVER BUY CHROMES if you are going off road.  I got a full set for 40 bucks and thought they where great.  then i went off a 1 1/2 foot drop.  Blew 3 of them off the beads.  and only had 1 spare.  the tires don't stick to the chrome as well as steel.  lata Stu

If you're interested, make me an offer on these:

They are 15 x 7 with 3.5" backspacing,  5 on 5.5 wheels I used to have on my Sammy.  I just want 'em out of my garage.  All four are in decent condition.

jdraper has those rims and you can probably get em cheap!! If damage bothers you alot these rims would be a good deal until you get some experience.
