A friend of mine is doing a prototype, looks good so far.  will be tested soon.  We're aiming to be about half of calaminis 4:1 gears, maybe even better.  I'll keep you posted on how it's coming along.

if its half of calminis price you might be onto something. im cheap what can i say, is 900 something a little steep, i think so since its almost what i paid for the tracker in the first place!

I was planning on getting CALMINIs but I can wait to see how yours works out. Are you a Fab shop or shadetree mech?

I paid $1900 Canadian plus another 600 for safety and etest.  Thats about 1600 USD altogether.  There is no way I'm paying 1000 plus shipping plus duty plus taxes plus taxes on duty to get a gearset I still have to install myself.  He said $450 to 500 is reasonable, makes a living doing custom gears.  Might be even higher than that, but close to 3.5:1   And its all new, not the cut and weld stuff.  I'll have none of that.  Mind you, with proper welding equipment, it might not be too bad.  Like I said, I'll keep updating, but the more he can sell, the more of an incentive it is for him to finish and me to test it.

Heck Ya I want a set, I've been thinking
the 4.4:1 is too low, and have been thinking
about 3:1, this is a good thing, I can go 55
MPH in low range on stock gears and 235 tires,
stock T-case is about 1.89:1 I think, so with
4.4:1s you get a top speed of what 30 MPH
max  :P too low, killer for rockcrawling but
too low to be any fun in the dunes or hills.

Encourage him to do some Ring and Pinion
sets too, 5.83:1 is perfect for 33s and see
if he can get em around $200/set  :)

This is awesome dude, things like this
are the way do it yourselfers build
Prego Dogin Kicks............ ;D

SWEEEEET(southpark style)  My buddies have the Calmini gears and they have to wheel in 3rd & 4th gear and you tend to run out of gears in a hurry.

Will he ship to the UK? The Calmini stuff costs a third again by the time you can buy it here and they won't export direct. I've just acquired a spare t-case to fit some new gears in.

100 Kmh  is = to 62.xx Mph, a little over 62.
88 Kmh is = to 55 Mph

If you have a Man trans you got 5.13:1
axle gears, your only other choice is
5.83:1 from Cal, unless Bandits friend
can cut some new diff gear ratios  :)

I would be interested in transfer gears, way to many green backs by the time you get the Calmini set up to Canada.

One of our upcomming mods is transfer case gears...  We'll explore all options, price is a big factor.
