A/C condensor gave up the ghost
« on: October 19, 2003, 02:35:25 PM »
Was checking oil, cleaing up some road grime.  I dropped my rag and it fell on the ground right under the condensor.  I bent over to retrieve it, and lo and behold, there was a nasty looking oil leak right where the receiver is welded to the condensor itself. ???

Yuk.  :-[ Took it to my friendly neighborhood zuki dealer and yup, its toast.  Oddly enough, the compressor still kicks in but I vaguely remember late in the summer that it really didn;t cool as well as it once did.  I never really addressed it as the weather started to cool off and I really didn't use it as much.

On edmunds, under the chevy tracker section, there is a discussion bout the fan hitting the fins on the condensor and making a mess of things.  I don't have that problem but this leak really does tork me off.   What happened to the legendary japanese quality?  Or was it too much sake on a Wednesday night after the Tokyo baseball team won the world series?

SHould be taken care of under warranty.......I hope......or else the samurai hamster will have to get medieval on someone's arse!
The Zuke is on its way out.  Getting a vehicle that will behave and be supported by the dealer.

That's hard to believe especially since it's only a year old, It's probably just  a unique problem, just like my coolant leak from the pipe that runs to the back of the head, the Chevy dealer never saw that happen before, and they sell a lot of Trackers ;D  Good luck doing a dance with the Suzuki dealer, they shouldn't argue with you, I'm sure they'll fix it asap.  Take care,    Dave

Don't fix it, dump the A/C and
use the compressor for your Air-Lockers.

Suzuki, Honda & Toyota the differences between the three are like that in America where we have the BIG three Ford, GM & Chrysler. Ford is equal to being Honda, GM is equal to being like Suzuki and last but not least Toyota is like that of Chrysler. The Japanese ranking system of quality care is like that of what you can expect from the BIG three in the United States and in the equalization of comparison between the likes... (this comes from a former Certifide Suzuki Mechanic who sit's on the porch on silent nights and listens to his wife's Ford Mustang rust.)  ;D

Let's just hope it was too much sake.........however, the radiator is Denso USA, the AC compressor is Denso, perhaps the condensor is too.
That being the case, I can't say "what happened to Japanese quality"! ??? :o
