Question about Heat in 91 Sammy
« on: September 23, 2003, 07:00:50 PM »
I have a 91 Sammy and I am getting heat from the floor vents, and defrost, but nothin but cool air from the dash vents. With winter coming fast and all I was wondering what the problem could be or is this normal. Any help is appreciated.

its a cable thing,or more correctly a maladjusted cable due too wear........

i have never fixed mine i just push it forward with my finger.......

i dont have the radio box installed so it doesnt get in my way................

thr lever is located on the lower  right side of the cable control box......

go to the lower right hand corner of the controll move your hand down about an inch and a half then go in about 3 inches {to fire wall} and you will find the levers the lever for the defrost isnt going all the way forward it just needs to go about a 1/4 inch more and the defroster will work.........

at least that is what i have to do ......i would think thats whats going on with yours .....

similars design failures are fun arent they........

i found out many moons ago that messing with the cables on this sort heater is not easy or fun ..... ??? :o

so just find a way to manualy push it forward and you will be farther ahead 8)
88 sammy with a few mods

I have no problem with the defrost working air is hot out of defrost and floor vents. My problem is that I am only getting cool air out of the dash vents. I have tried the cable moving thing you talked about but results are still cool air from dash vents.

You'll only be able to get cold air out of the vents. For some reason they designed the Samurai with floor and defrost heat and cold but only vent cold.

Well that sucks. I guess I will have to try and see if I can re route the hot air. Any reasoning behind doing this?
