Scarce as hen's teeth in NY.
Officially, it is ILLEGAL to use any tire-equipped OHV on any State land. The NYSDEC does not maintain any areas to legally wheel.
On a tangent, NYS has the second largest OHV economy in the nation (second only to CA), but has the largest amount of state owned land (both in acreage and in % of state land mass). Can you say "tree-hugging, hippie-loving, NYS DEC administrators"? I can.

Anyhoot, mosy all the wheeling we do it pirate, meaning, illegal. We ocassionally wheel Mt Beacon, but if caught, it's a $1000 fine, and the truck gets impounded, costing several hundred $ more. But we do wheel a few places legitatimaly/legally, as it's private land, by invitation.
I live in Dutchess Co, about 50 miles north of Manhattan. If you want to hook up over the summer and wheel, let me know.
