Kick lift
« on: April 20, 2005, 10:58:39 AM »
???OK I searched but no luck,I know there was a thread about using Grand Vitara springs for a 2" lift in a kick. I can not find the thread any help would be great. I need heavier springs for the extra weight of the winch, bumbers cage and my fat A&*. Thanks :-/

Spacers won't really do any good if you need it to handle more weight. RRO has 1.5" lift springs in 2 different spring rates. I was going to use them for a snowplow, to try and keep the front end from sagging.
Sidekick sport springs have a higher spring rate, and I think they give 1.5" - they're stiff

:) Good news to me. Now I just read on this site that  taller springs with out a strut flip or spacers handle poorly/ dangerous? any word on this?

Well mine certainly did, but you can fix it for free or very cheaply. The strut mount flip will help at the front and if your rear shocks are still good and you don't want to pay out for new longer ones you can lower the top mount with a box section steel spacer (if you can get the shock off in one piece). I haven't done this myself but I have seen it done on SJs and Tony Bennett of the Surrey Suzuki Society (aka Red Baron) has done this on his LWB. If you're feeling rich then strut spacers and longer rear shocks are an alternative. If you're feeling very rich use OME struts and longer rear shocks with a rear diff top mount spacer.
If you use a jack and measure how far you can lift the car off the ground without the wheel coming off the ground you will get a good idea of whether or not you are likely to have a problem. Aim for around 1 1/2" to 2" minimum.
