The alarm "key" fell out of mine while bumping down the road this weekend.  and no starto.  I was by myself, and I had to push it to start it.  Then I remembered feeling somthing hit my leg then the  floor earlier.  I found the "key" and put it back in and it started right up.  I would like to know how to be rid of it too, since without a remote for it , it is of no use, and it can only cause trouble later I bet.

It plugs into a socket thing under the dash to the right of the steering wheel. The plug socket sticks out flush with the dash, so it is not way underneath.  Maybe late tomorrow I can get a picture.  It  looks like a card that would plug into to a computer motherboard, but it is smaller with the metal contacts much bigger than what you would see on a computer board. The "key" contact surface is about a inch wide, with a handful of metal contacts. I have a 95 JLX, so it may be similar.

Does the horn honk when you try to start it?
try turning on the lights, if that dont work try turning on the wipers - radio - call the person that you bought it from its probably somthing they forgot to tell you

same thing with my 95 tracker would just honk when you tryed to start it, then you turn on the lights and vroom
All things must start and end, the key is to not let them start and end in the same place.

I wasn't aware of a factory starter kill in that year trackick.  Is this aftermarket??  You could try pulling the wires out of that unit and bypassing it.  Don't hack it up too much though, make sure you can rewire it if the idea doesn't work.

I think you need some duct tape some tin foil and a safety pin.  Put it all to gether and hook it to your shirt and maybe that will help it start.   ;D ;D  Just kidding.
