SIMPLE QUESTION

On Friday I'll be fitting the coil spacers and 235/75-15's on my '03 chevytracker.  

I've heard that larger tires will affect performance (acceleration, braking, etc) and althoughmy tracker isnt a race car, its has quite good performance from the 2.0L (with minor bolt ons).

How badly will the larger tires (no gearing change) affect performance? :-/

what size tire is on there now.

I went from a 215/75 to a 235/75 on my Samurai and only lost a little power, oh and the ability to go 70 ;)

The size on it now is 205/75-15.  I've been going over that 1010tires.com site and ejalta.com for many months trying to pick the rite size.

The stock tires are 27" and the 235's are 29".  The difference is signifigant, but not tremendous.   Has anyone fit the same size tires and noticed a huuuge difference?

I had a 90 Track with 235's the lift etc.. you won't notice much differance in performance(still lightem' up into second gear) until you step up to 31's or larger, it did throw out my speedo my about 10 km's+. with a 2.0 liter I doubt you"ll even tell except for maybe the change in gas milage

I did it on my 97 1.6 16v 5spd.  It likes the 235's much better than the original tires.  I think the Tracker is over geared and this fixed it right up.  I was worried about all the same things, but after doing it I am very happy.

Thanks for the replies, guys.  I figure a performance decrease (and fuel-mileage decrease) is expected, but I dont want it to be so bad that I'll regret it after.  

Right now I can still drop down to 225's or 215's if I'm worried.  But after reading these posts, I think I'll take the chance and run the 235's.

Hey why does 1010 say you risk brake failure when going up more than 3% in tire size? I just changed to 215 75 15 from 205 75 15 and it seems to drive better on the road-feels better rolling maybe rolls better if that makes sense but it does seem harder to brake now? Also these tires are called d/t and are loud and vibrate alot more. What is d/t ? I had A/T and know what that is.

you may need to change the back spacing on your rim because  the 235's may rub at full lock they did on my 99 tracker. also were did you get that header for the 2.0 get much power out of it
