which Interco tire??
« on: April 07, 2005, 07:09:45 PM »
Hey guys i'm in need or some new tires pretty soon and i was wonder which interco tire would be the best.

My tracker is a daily driver, and i don't want to go bigger then 29 inch tires( i need high ways speeds, don't want to change gears).

My opitions are from interco  tsl/sx, thornbird,  super swamper, ssr series.

There isn't much rocks here in ontario, mostly mud and sand.

Which tire would proform better in these conditions, keep in mind 80 pavement driving, the other mudding.

Thanks guys, any help is appreciated, pierre

I'd say, go with the TSL's, but thats a biased opinion...lol
DEFANTLY stay away from the Thornturds unless your building a show truck, or don't plan on wheeling over anything more extreme than a parking curb!

here is a link to swampers home site.
http://www.intercotire.com/left_index.htm

the ssr rides the best on pavement and hase the sam outer lug patteren as the tsl however th center lugs on the ssr almost connect to give it a smoother ride.

I have a bout 11k on my ssr's and they look like new. They work great in mud but are a little bit heavy on the road(my 33's weigh less) but you don't get flats either.

oh yea, mabey i sould say somthing about the topic too.

we have sevral older(1990's) sets of swampers and they all ride bad.  it sounds like the SSr it the best chose other than weigh.

ssr's r the best on the street having run every style swamperon my tracker including the new 33" irocs the ssr's ride better than tsl radial all tsl's have center lug spacing of about 1" the ssr's nearly touch each other the swamper site shows a pic of the old ssr's where the gapping is the same as the tsl radial. by the way the truxus and the irocs ride better on raod than the ssr. if they sit they do not get flat spots that is a trate of a nylon corded bias ply which is what most swampers r the iroc bias is a polyester corded tire which is a little weaker and more suseptable to puncture. however i have not been able to put a hole in these irocs. i have to bring them back next week any way i think i may have to buy a set.

I know a couple of guys running the 30 10.5 15 radial (non-ssr)on 8 inch rims. They have had really good luck in off road performance and milage. I would recomend those.

I also have the TSL Radials (32s siped) and I like them so far. Probley a bit heavy but enough grip to keep me going and just enough slip not to brake anything. ;D

Go with the TSL sx it has the side bite required for the smaller tire in the bigger rutt ;D and your rig is lite enough i would not worrie about radials here is a pic of the 29x10.50x15's
