Getting Brake drums off with axles not installed??
« on: April 10, 2005, 05:15:00 PM »
Ok I'm working on getting my locker in and I got the axles out but I wasn't able to get the brake drums off before I took the axles out.
On the driver side while I was hitting the back of the brake assembly with a hammer to try and loosen the axle / brake drum I accidently hit one of the axle flange screws into the brake assembly so now I have a screw loose ( that wasn't a nice thought ) in the brake drum.

So if anyone has any ingenious ideas for getting the drum off of an axle that is not installed in the housing I would love to hear it.
Thanks Again for all the help.

It's not a Jeep thing, it's not a Suzuki thing, or a Chevy,Ford thing.
It's a wheeling thing now get out and do it!

Bolt your tire and wheel back on your drum and drop it on a couple of saw horses(axel pointing downward), if not hit the axel in the middle of the four bolts with a large drift and a bfh.
