XL-7 in Taiwan needs help
« on: December 07, 2004, 02:14:48 AM »
Hello, every GV, XL-7 drivers.
As we know, XL-7(before 2004) has an aluminum front differential(AFD) and we would like to call it: Achilles heel. See below: http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/roadtests/58458/index10.html
It might be some kind of dangous if we drive this SUV with AFD. We don't know how or when that AFD will break, so the drivers in Taiwan try to ask their right. We want to change the AFD material to solid cast iron. But the dealer in Taiwan said there is no way to change because no match component for XL-7. Is that true? The fact is that XL-7 does have cast iron front differential. See below: http://www.zukiworld.com/month_090103/feature_sidekickdrivetrainimprovements.htm
I need every XL-7 or GV drivers to collect some informations about broken AFD. Does someone have more pictures for broken aluminum front differential? Movie file will be better and helpful. We try to show XL-7 AFD is weak and we want to update the material of front differential housing. Thank you for Zukiworld friends. Thanks again!

Search the forum. There is a GSP (Genuine Suzuki Part) Number listed for that housing and 3rd member too.

The part numbers for the housing replacements are

27611-67D00 for manual trans
27611-82D00 for auto trans

I called a local dealer and couldn't verify that these were cast though. But it is a starting point for you.

Try http://www.suzukicarparts.com/ and maybe someone there for the info. They are cheaper than my dealer also by about 100US dollars.

Hope this helps.

Thank you two good men. :)
I will pass the information for the drivers in Taiwan. But, does any one have more pictures or movies for the broken aluminum front differential?
Do the drivers in US or other countries have any movemont to ask Suzuki to replace AFD? Do you think it should be a recall for more safety when we go out? In Taiwan the dealer did replace the AFD for partial GV-Club drivers and charge the update fee. But this is under table agreement, only few people know about that. This is why I need your help to prove the AFD is unsafe.
