Longer Panhard bar?
« on: January 28, 2005, 09:06:48 AM »
Hi,
I've ordered some new coils for my Grand Vitara, I shall lift it only 4cm to avoid problems with more lift, and I can't afford much more anyways.
The thing is, if I lift it, I know of people who have the car leaning to one side, as the Panhard* bar is too short. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've thought about buying one from a crashed GV, and simply cutting/welding. Does anyone have any expereince in this? Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks,

sergi

PD: I'm not sure if you call a Panhard bar a Panhard bar ::) but what I mean is the bar in the rear axle thats meant to keep it centered. It goes from the left of the axle to the right of the vehicle ;).

In our experience, we do not extend the length of the panhard bar. We only lengthen the driver side (left side) mounting. The objective is to parallel the angle of the panhard bar with the axle

DO NOT LENGTHEN THE TRACK BAR.  Doing so will cause undesirable driving effects.  Raise the bottom mount instead.
