ah once again it is time to delve into the pool of knowledge lurking within the confines of ZUKIWORLD forum.
my little truck is slowly coming into its own as a daily driver i fix something everyday and am slowly running out of things to do.
i now have a shimmy that happens as i am giving it the gas after shifting to second it lasts throughout second gear but fades as the rpm gets higher it seems to go away untill 5th gear 100kmh. my transfer case knob shakes pretty good during this shimmy so i assumed it was u joints on back driveshaft but upon further investigating it seems my u joints are in great shape (but no grease nipples?) however i notice that my transfer case shook around when twisting the drive shaft. all the mounts are there, but do they get soft and cause this type of shimmy? speak oh wise ones
P.S. excuse my humor i am just in a good mood.

Check all the T-case mounting bolts. I have had them come loose before.

could be a bad (broken) t case mount, drive line balance,u joint faze, pinion bearing,tcase bearings. just get under it and start checking things,something got to be loose. those problems are very hard to analize unless you are there,and can feel everything, and experence the problem first hand. just check it out carefully and you should  be able to figure it out.

and dont forget to check the muffler bearing!

will give her the once over tommorow , snowing here today and my buddy with the shop went out of town. laying on a sheet of plywood in the weather can suck the patience right out of me.

Trail tough sells a solid type mount kit that has three bolts with nuts and a bunch of red polly bushings to replace the stock ones, I just replaced the two on the long arm and left the stock one on the drivers side single arm and let the mount hit the bottom of the body so I don't tear the short arm off of the frame. Throw the third one in your rigs tool box.

Please post back on here when you find out what it is! Mine is doing the same thing,  (albeit I have two transfer cases)... but I was thinking that it might be the output shaft bearing on the Samurai transfer case. It makes noise in 5th gear when you let it off too.

If that is what you find out, then it just reaffirms my suspicion. Thanks!

PS. I plan to take mine apart in the next couple of weeks to see for sure what is causing mine too..

  check your u-joints and mounts.
    i do not recomend the poly mounts(nether does brent from TT)they can cause mounts to rip from the frame or the t-case housing it's self too tear at mounting points.a new factory mount can streach 3-4 inches and not break.

     when mine does that,it's normally a u-joint.(upper rear at t-case)

hummmm, check all your bolts on the driveshaft and the four on the long arm side of the t case if they get loose AT ALL you might be needing a new housing soon, dont drive it till you check them or youll be sorry, im on my 5th t case housing allready

driveline vs. pinion angle

reccomendations? are you sayin that the driveshaft angle might be causing his or my problems? if mine i only have about a 15 degree tilt to my driveshaft after it leaves the rear axle and mebe a 20 where it goes to the output flange on the t case. try that with a 9 inch suspension lift its not easy!

in my opinion, if you have a samurai with spring over suspention lift, you will exsperiance some vibration under acceleration in first and second gear. Correct driveline angles, good transfer case mounts, and some sort of anti spring wrap device will keep it minimal but will probably not eliminate it. check the search feature for driveline angle

I doubled up the main springs on the rear of mine and nither one of mine have that prob. I have pulled a thousand pound trailer up to eight five mph even and up a hill no less and never noticed anything.

well guys i had to work late so i did not get to look at it, my samurai is 87 lwb. stock everything (just about) might not get to look untill saturday. will let you know what i find out
