Bent tcase arm. The long one. Just went thru this on mine last week.
As we moving with the speed of the robot sonic exhaust
Chronic fumes, fuel, gin, and tonic
Half of the world is corrupt and alive
The other half is depressed and they want to die

I doubled up the main springs on the rear of mine and nither one of mine have that prob. I have pulled a thousand pound trailer up to eight five mph even and up a hill no less and never noticed anything.

I buy the double main spring statement, BUT
a samurai going uphill at 85 mile an hour towing a 1000 lb. trailer!

It was on the trailer, correct?
no good deed goes unpunished

Have to ask that one myself? I am planning on an engine swap in a bit. I want what you got under the hood. Just for the expression on peoples faces, if for no other reason.   ;D

Ya I was running a 16 valve with a four to one x-fer case with 30x9.5 tires, pulled in the scales just starting off on the nine day camping trip the rig and the trailer weighed in at 4000 lbs  the trailer by its self weighed 950 with about 50 lb tounge weight, it still had plenty of more power to go faster but why push it ? that was with an inch and seven eights exhaust pipe, I got home and put a two inch pipe on it now it has ever more power. It did real well on gas mileage also I went from klamath falls oregon to lake view over the mountains and it took 3.8 gal of gas. just did the math 28.4 mpg. p.s. the trailer I was pulling is a 1951 m100 that goes with my m38a1 (looks like a cj-5)about 500 lbs empty.

driveline vs. pinion angle

I would agree, but with no mods, what would be causing it?

turns out it was the rear ujoint on the small shaft going from tranny to trans case. all better now :)

Please post back on here when you find out what it is! :) Mine is doing the same thing,  (albeit I have two transfer cases)... but I was thinking that it might be the output shaft bearing on the Samurai transfer case. It makes noise in 5th gear when you let it off too.

If that is what you find out, then it just reaffirms my suspicion. Thanks!

PS. I plan to take mine apart in the next couple of weeks to see for sure what is causing mine too..
