Tranny whine
« on: August 04, 2005, 02:43:39 PM »
I picked up another zuk today (93 4dr w/manual trans).

I has a slight whine from what I think is the throwout ... whines when pedal is out, goes away when peday depressed (all gears and neutral).

I've not sorted through it yet so it may just be low on fluid ... would be sweet if that's the deal!!!

If not, am I correct that it sounds like the throwout? It's got 224K miles on it, so might be ready for (another?) clutch job anyway ...

Good news is ... the 1.6l 16v engine is good and strong!

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.

Your diagnosis is most likely correct. The symptoms are pretty typical

Actually if you push the pedal in and it goes away then the trans has a bad bearing. The throwout bearing is probabally good.
