I have an '87 Samurai "tintop" and the motor and tranny are wasted which is why it came to me for free. I have decent mechanical/fabrication skills and a shop to work in, along with the help of my brother-in-law who's a mechanic by trade. What I am considering doing is using a re-built Buick 3.8ltr V-6, auto tranny, and upgrading to Toyota axles with birfield eliminators. Now my questions are 1) which auto tranny can I use for this conversion 2) which transfer case should I use to make it work 3) if I use the Toyota axles, will I have to flip the axles over and use reverse rotation gears? The reason I ask these questions is, I already have a TH350 with an adapter plate for a Jeep 231 case and a Jeep 231 laying in the garage with a 4:1 kit installed. I would like to use the parts that I already have and get the motor/misc parts as I need them. Any suggestions will be welcomed and e-mails will also be accepted. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Greg
