Getting a 91 4x4 tracker tomorrow.  It is a project.  The thing that worries me is that the trackers 4x4 hi does not seem to engage.  Normally when I put a 4x4 vehicle in 4 hi it would shimmy around hard turns at slow speeds.  Maybe its fine and i just need to mess with it like my old jeep (frickin jeep).  I am new to suzukis and trackers so just looking for some info.  Are the t-case and axles hard to work on.

Your best bet to check the 4-High is to engage it and spin the tires in some loose dirt or gravel. If you are running it in 4x4 on drive pavement DONT. It could bind up the drive line and break all sorts of stuff.

The axles and T case are not hard to work on, just buy your self a Factory Service Manual (FSM) form somewhere like Hawk Strictly Suzuki (1-888-samurai) and you'll be ready to tear apart anything on  your tracker.

I also believe i overlooked something.  The hubs probably needed to be locked before i engage it into 4x4.  Man sometimes my brain is a sib.  Thanks for the info.

That or the hubs need serviced and
they didn't lock in,  easy fix

Thanks for the welcome wild.  Hey are they supposed to engage on there own.  They look to be manual meaning I guess i have to do it.  Not being a smartass but i am used working on import cars (honda civs, evos, etc...).  I do love my track though.

There are 2 types of hubs on the Track/Kicks
Autos (junk)  and Manuals, autos say so on
the cover, manuals have a switch on them, and
they turn about 1/4 turn, look close, you will see
a dot on one side of the hub, it points to "Lock"
or "Free"  to use the 4WD you turn both sides to
Lock, you can drive with them locked too on the
street, but not in 4WD unless in the snow

You will loose some MPG from the front axle
and gears drag, but if you don't plan on using
the 4WD for a while (a day or more) turn the
hubs to Free, saves Wear, Gas, CVs and U-joints
