has anyone replaced their drum brakes yet? I cant get my drum off. Any help would be great.

i've had the same problem on my '01 2 door tracker.  I did eventually get them off but it involved using prybars.  I slackened the ebrake but that was no help.  It seems like the brake shoes don't push into the wheel cylinder far enough and hold onto the drum.  If anyone knows how to get them off easily I'd be very interested - perhaps opening the bleed screw would help?

Last night, I went to an auto parts store to rent a "drum Puller". The guy told me they dont rent those any more or sell them. He says on the GV/xl7 models there are 2 screw holes that you just put some bolts in and start screwing them in and it will just pop off.  So I will give that a shot this weekend and see how it goes. I hope its the same for the chev version.

Tried the bolt threading method - mine stripped out after some pressure was put on them.  Hopefully you'll have better luck!

Something to try also is to lossen the lug nuts almost all the way and use the tire as a slide-hammer.

Ok, I got my drums to come off, a little break loose stuff, kind of like wd40 but better and a couple of MM screws and it came off. Didnt neeed to replace the brakes, just had to have the drums machined.
