Tracker input shaft damaged - options?
« on: September 01, 2005, 01:36:29 PM »
Hello everybody!

My mechanic told me that the input shaft in my 1998 4WD Tracker is damaged. So two questions:

1. What would be less expensive (as in the sum of labor+parts): to replace just the input shaft; or to replace the whole transmission?

2. Can anyone suggest a reputable source of inexpensive transmission parts for Sidekick/Tracker in the US, and preferably central coast CA (I am in Santa Barbara) down to LA?

I have all stock parts and not interested in the high performance stuff. The mechanic charges me for the labor, but does not mark up the parts.

I will appreciate any advice-
T.

what "input shaft" are you referring to?

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.

In most cases.........

Finding a good used transmission with a warranty is the most cost effective alternative.

Hawk Suzuki is the place for GOOD used tranny parts or a complete transmission. They're not
the cheapest  but you can trust them.
I never asked for nothing and thats all I got.
