Yea, I had just over 280,000 miles on my 1989 8V motor when the lower end started knocking. This was with this vehicle having the hell ran out of it since 40,000 miles when I bought it. And to top that off, I had just returned from my trip driving it from Tennessee to Moab Utah and back. So that was literally across the USA and back with it in 4th or 5th gear with the gas pedal on the floor the entire trip.
I also have my daily driver 1998 X-90 with 160,000 miles on it and I still drive it 1000 miles a week. I did have motor trouble with it a few months ago, but it ended up being my key that holdt my timing belt pulley to the crank in place was worn out. So I pulled the motor out of my 1997 parts Tracker that had 140,000 miles on it and had been sitting for two years, and it's motor is still doing great for me. I plan on following Zag's rebuild posts and rebuilding the 8V and the 16V.
These things will run forever with a little maitnance. Even if you Redline all the time

For example, I run my 1000 miles a week in my X-90 at 75-90 MPH if traffic will allow me to. And every time it is wide open till I hit crusing speed.
