Highest KMs/Miles On Your Sidekick
« on: September 01, 2005, 10:28:57 PM »
I was just wondering how my KM/Miles people have put on there sidekicks, and what or if they have had any major problems too.

I have 160,000km on my 1.6 8 valve. and I just had to get a new head because mine warped on me, Plus I also just got my 3speed trany rebuilt cuz it too was leaking, Those were the bigest problems I have had so far. Oh and may I add..... RUST!! But im getting that fixed too...... Hey now that I think about it, Iv been spending alot of money on this little truck :-\

Wifes 92 4dr is at 200,000km and due for valve seals, only had to do the Alternator....
(exhaust mods don't count or aircleaner mods and other minor tweakin)

RallyKick was at 386,000km when we started, engine and trans both shot. Engine and Trans have been replaced now.

84k on mine. New timing belt and water pump is all I've done. It leaks oil but otherwise runs strong.

My tracker, my sisters purple rig, my dads hired man and my cousin all have trackicks with well over 200,000 miles with no engine work. Plugs, oilchanges, and belts. My sisters rigs needed front a main seal recently, however I think that is more of an age thing. Mine smokes a little now but still runs great. Didnt Zig get like 280,000 when the lower end let go?

Yea, I had just over 280,000 miles on my 1989 8V motor when the lower end started knocking. This was with this vehicle having the hell ran out of it since 40,000 miles when I bought it. And to top that off, I had just returned from my trip driving it from Tennessee to Moab Utah and back. So that was literally across the USA and back with it in 4th or 5th gear with the gas pedal on the floor the entire trip.

I also have my daily driver 1998 X-90 with 160,000 miles on it and I still drive it 1000 miles a week. I did have motor trouble with it a few months ago, but it ended up being my key that holdt my timing belt pulley to the crank in place was worn out. So I pulled the motor out of my 1997 parts Tracker that had 140,000 miles on it and had been sitting for two years, and it's motor is still doing great for me. I plan on following Zag's rebuild posts and rebuilding the 8V and the 16V.

These things will run forever with a little maitnance. Even if you Redline all the time ;) For example, I run my 1000 miles a week in my X-90 at 75-90 MPH if traffic will allow me to. And every time it is wide open till I hit crusing speed.

Sno when did you pick up another trackick???

Got a 4dr around the start of August. Engine strong, tranny whines but drivable. $730+ tax/lic. ... so $850 out the door.

Already started on the mods (OME springs + RRO spacers, some fender trimmin). Going to do a 3" BL, locker in rear, and try to run 33's.

Here's a pic before the fender trim up front

I'm going to try to get my wife to run the 2dr (aka "golf cart") next year  ;D
