Sidekick oil leak front
« on: September 03, 2005, 12:20:25 PM »
This is a follow up to my  posted  question.  After pulling off the timing cover and
timing belt  I could see that the front seals were good. It looked like the oil was
coming from the oil pump gasket.  I found 2  bolts had backed off on the oil pump
cover.  one by the dip stick and  the next one to the right just inside the timing
cover. Hope this can assist someone.

Previous question:

I put a new engine in 2 years ago. No leaks for about a year,  10k miles. The engine
slowly began leaking oil over the next year. It looks like it is coming from the general
area of the front timing cover. Notice some oil  getting on the alternator. What do you
think is the most likley cause. Front main seal? Oil pump behind timing cover? Dip stick
tube seal. Thanks for the input. Man I hate oil leaks!

I had a nick in the camshaft sealing surface,
found it when I was looking for my oil leaks,
it chewed the seal lip and started a leak.

You might have a bad front crank seal, cam seal,
or a dipstick tube, the dipstick tube is just an O-ring,
the others are both the same seal, I really doubt it's
the oil pump or gasket behind it
