After Herculiner...

How long before it airs out enough to be approachable? Finished yesterday evening. Wow. Eyes gummed up. Used warm compresses to get them working again. I can smell my Sami from, oh, 30 feet. Stout stuff! Looks cool, though. Everyone use two coats? I have some left over, thought I might touch up a few areas today. Anyone use it in the wheel wells?

It takes about 2-3 days to really gas off (assuming it's well ventilated). The tar smell isn't too bad after a week or so.

Just make sure it get's plenty of ventilation for a 3-7 days and the smell will go away. It'll also be a little "soft" for that week, so take it easy at the mall  ;D.

And oh yea, herc is great for fenders, body panels, bumpers, etc ... it's very tolerant of dents and scratches. I did my track up to the belt line and have yet to have any scrape off (and I've tried  :o )

One more thing about herc ... you can't "touch up" a day or two later ... read the can. You can apply coats over it *while it is solvent* (about 4 hours, I expect 6 might be ok) ... once it does the initial "set" (that 4-6 hours), it needs to completely cure (about 5 days), and then you can apply over it.

If you wait 2-3 days and then try to apply over, it'll still be gassing off, and your "touchup" will just fall off.

You can order some non-black color, but color choices are sorta limited (aka not going to get a factory color match).
